v5.1 Update
I'm running the raw base ROM now.
Feels rock solid and blazing fast!
Really. Forget everything you've seen before.
It's even damn fast when media scanning!
v5.1 will blow every other ROM away. I'll promise you
I'll rework the whole LauncherPro theme and optimize it 'till death
I spent hours to create a rock-solid JPU base for the v5.1 release.

//////
IMPORTANT
If you get stuck at boot after installing v5.1
If you flashed v4.1 of my ROM, you'll have /system corruption.
This was a problem with the kernel.
To fix it, flash an Eclair Firmware (I recommend JM8) with Odin.
Use the 512 PIT file and set Re-Partition ON!
Then just flash my v5.1 and it will work.
/////
// New: I translated everything into German! Check it out below
Updated the FAQ and answered most questions, check it out HERE!
This ROM aims to be beginner/noob friendly - you don't need to flash several files in order to get a well working ROM which fits your needs.
You just pick your ROM with your desired theme & kernel and flash it
I proudly present my first Custom ROM - Darky's v5.1 Gingerbread Edition.

Our SGS shows less reception than other devices (I tested it with some iPhones), even if they show about the same amount of dBm.
That's why I tweaked the signal bars to show a better signal strength.

Important Information
This is a full ROM - no other Firmware required.
This ROM will NOT Apps & Settings (in fact, the whole System).
It won't touch your internal or external SD-Card.
_______________________________________________
This ROM installs a few extra folders on your INTERNAL SD-Card with some Steel (called Token) Icons, 2 selfmade Wallpapers and BeautifulWidgets Skins (not my work).
_______________________________________________
In Version 3.0, LauncherPro and the Multi-Touch Keyboard aren't installed by default.
In Version 4.0, LauncherPro is installed by default.
In Version 4.1, LauncherPro is installed by default.
But you need to install the Multi-Touch Keyboard from SD-Card to get it working.
They are also on your SD-Card.
More detailed instructions for installing LauncherPro & Multi-Touch Keyboard on Version below:
LauncherPro is already installed in v4.0/1.
LauncherPro is ready to be installed on your SD-Card.
It is in /sdcard/LauncherPro-0.8.10
Just use the app "My Files", navigate to this folder and install it.
Furthermore, the Multi-Touch Keyboard is also ready on your SD-Card.
Install it the same way as you did with LauncherPro (above).
After installing the keyboard, you need to press the Home button.
Then open the Settings app.
Scroll down and select "Locale and Text".
Then check the checkbox on Multi-Touch Keyboard and press OK to confirm.
Then you can edit the settings under the menu below.
You can choose Vibration, Spelling Fixes or more languages.
It includes the following Lanuages;
- English (United States)
- Spanish (Spain)
Then go "back" from the keyboard settings.
Now you need to choose your keyboard as the "active keyboard".
Press "Choose Input Method" and select "Droid2Keyboard German Black".
Finished!
_______________________________________________
How to get all the icons like in the screenshot?
To get all the icons shown in the screenshots, start LauncherPro, press the MENU button (left to the middle HOME button),
press "Preferences"scroll down and choose "Restore Backup".
Then answer "Yes" to restart LauncherPro.
Et voilà, all icons are usuable and prepared
(Maybe you need to reassign the 4 dock icons but the rest works.Fixed this!)
Requirements
- Either an 2.1 Eclair Firmware
- or Froyo and a kernel with Recovery 2e (by ChainFire) to flash 'update.zip' files.
- ClockWorkMod Recovery (Download below)
- DON'T just install this ROM when coming from a ROM with ULF (or ULF alone)!
Reflash firstEclair Firmware with Odin,
then install this ROM as described below.
More detailed instructions for this "issue":
// If you can't install 4.0 or are stuck at boot
If you're coming from a ROM with ULF (sztupy's Universal Lag Fix) you will get stuck at boot when switching to this ROM with Vodoo.
I can't fix that, as I'm almost sure this is the kernel's bug.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Reflash an Eclair Firmware with Odin.
Then just apply this ROM. It works without any problem!

ClockworkMod Recovery @MultiUpload[/CODE]
Installation Guide for the Voodoo Version
This guide is only for the VOODOO version!
Users who are going to choose the SpeedMod Versionare more advanced and know what to do!read the instructions by R64 below.
// Texts in italic are detailed/additional instructions.
1. Download the ROM from above, and put it on your INTERNAL SD-Card.
Don't unzip it, as this will break the signature.
2. Download ClockworkMod Recovery from above.
You need ClockworkMod Recovery, as this won't work with the stock recovery.
3. Rename the ClockWorkMod Recovery file to "update.zip" (the ending must be ".zip", not the name itself) and put it on your INTERNAL SD-Card.
4. If you had Voodoo installed before installing this ROM (Eclair or Froyo), make sure you still have the "disable lagfix" folder inside "/sdcard/Voodoo". If you didn't have Voodoo before, make sure you don't have a "Voodoo" folder in your INTERNAL SD-Card.
5. Shutdown your phone, wait for it to power off completely (vibrates on Froyo, check buttons keypad light on Eclair), then boot the phone into Recovery Mode (press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, then press Power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).
6. Select "Apply SDCARD:update.zip" (use volume keys/rocker to move up and down, and HOME button to select).
ClockworkMod Recovery will boot now (you may have to do the "Apply update.zip" twice for ClockworkMod Recovery to show up).
7. Once in ClockworkMod Recovery, select "Install zip from SDCARD" (use volume keys/rocker to move up and down and the Power button to select).
8. Select "Choose zip from SDCARD" and then select the ROM zip file (Called something like "Darkys_Legendary_Steel_Edition_xxxxxxxx_xxxxxx_vX.X_signed.zip).
Then choose "Yes."
9. The Update will start (will take like 3 minutes) and during the flashing you will see some strange big blue characters on the screen - don't worry, that's normal.
After the process finished, you will be dropped back into ClockworkMod Recovery.
From there, choose "Go back", and then reboot your phone.
11. The first boot will take some time (5 minutes) as the ROM will de-odex, zipalign and Voodoo will be installed (NOTE FOR VOODOO USERS // BEFORE FLASHING THIS ROM: if you had kept the "disable lagfix" folder, you will need to delete/rename it after the ROM booted, and then reboot to apply Voodoo).
_______________________________________________
Installation Guide for the SpeedMod Version (by R64)
// I will highlight the important steps in bold.
When installing the SpeedMod Version the steps from 1 to 11 are about the same.
Then after the first boot a lagfix is not yet enabled.
To do so reboot your phone into Recovery Mode. (press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, then press Power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it)
Then you wil see the CWM menu.
Navigate with the Volume Keys.
Confirm with the HOME button (in the middle).
The lagfix and other tweaks are listed under "Advanced ULK":
Code:* Reboot to download: switches to download mode * Run 2e recovery: Switches to 2e recovery * Install superuser: installs busybox and superuser to the phone * Lagfix options: switch between various lagfix schemes * Tweak options: switch between various startup tweaks * BLN options: Turns BackLightNotification on or off * Reset permissions: Resets permissions to the same state as init does
There are 8 pre-defined schemes:
* OCLF: /data stays at rfs, but has an ext2 loop device on top of it
* Voodoo: /data is ext4, all others are kept at rfs
* JFS Voodoo: /data is jfs, all others are still rfs
* No-RFS Standard: /data is rfs+ext2, all other partitions are ext4
* No-RFS Advanced: all partitions are ext4I recommend this one!
* No-RFS Advanced JFS: all partitions are jfs
* No-RFS Overkill: turns on all options: everything is ext4+ext2 and /data/data is bound to /dbdata
* No-RFS Overkill JFS: turns on all options: everything is jfs+ext2 and /data/data is bound to /dbdata
(If using the overkill scheme using the bind option is dangerous if using too much apps, so you should disable it in the advanced menu.)
This is copied from the original ULK thread (and modified by darkyy).
Here you select No-RFS Advanced. I just recommend that.
Then go to tweak options and enable the first 3.
And before rebooting, enable the BLN.
When you enable it, it will not say BLN is enabled, but it is.
Then reboot. Now you will get into a different CWM menu.
It will ask you how to implement the lagfix.
Select backup and restore.
It will now backup all your data, convert the filesystem and then restore your data.
This can take some time and it is battery consuming.
And you're finally done.
R64's Theme Mod
I've been working on a different theme for 4.1 to look more like the stock samsung theme but, atleast for me, better. It's a mix of steel, stock, matte blue and glassia theme.
It has black statusbar with white icons. Buttons, textfields and selections are light blue when pressed. When not pressed they are silver/grey. Loading animation are dots circeling around and loading bar is black/grey with working anim. And the pulldown menu is mostly transparant.
If you want to try it you can download it here and flash it with CWM. Make a backup with cwm before flashing so you can revert to the steel look or if something goes wrong.
I've only tested this on v4.1. Because the base for 4.0 is slightly different it may not work. So don't flash this on 4.0

Hey Leute,
Denn in Darky's Beitrag steht dies hier:
Requirements
- Either an 2.1 Eclair Firmware
- or Froyo and a kernel with Recovery 2e (by ChainFire) to flash 'update.zip' files.
- ClockWorkMod Recovery (Download below)
- DON'T just install this ROM when coming from a ROM with ULF (or ULF alone)!
Reflash firstEclair Firmware with Odin,
then install this ROM as described below.
Herzlichsten Dank
