Mir sind keine News bekannt. Und wenn das vor allem von der Jolla-SW-Abteilung geleitet wird, wovon ich ausgehe, wird da aktuell wohl auch nicht viel passieren.

Ich hoffe echt, dass Sailfish nicht sterben wird. Nokia soll Jolla schlucken und über Foxconn Android und Sailfish-Smartphones produzieren lassen!

Bisher kam noch nichts, aber es ist ja vornehmlich community driven, dieses Projekt, wenn ich das richtig sehe.

Fairphone and Sailfish OS evaluating future collaboration
With Fairphone, Jolla shares a very active community that values transparency both in
hardware production and software. Since autumn 2015 the Jolla developer community has
been working to port Sailfish OS to the Fairphone 2, the ethical smartphone that uses
modular design to increase the phone’s longevity and reparability. Following the progress
of the community porting, Jolla and Fairphone are now evaluating possibilities to enter into
commercial collaboration based on common values.

Olivier Hebert, Chief Technology Officer at Fairphone comments:
“Making the Fairphone 2 hardware an open development platform has been one of our
major ambitions from the start. This way, we can foster innovation into new mobile
software technology and applications, while giving users the choice in the operating
systems that they want to use. Sailfish OS is something that a large proportion of our
community has been very interested in. We will continue supporting the community to port
Sailfish OS to the Fairphone 2 and are excited to explore the opportunity of commercial
collaboration with Jolla.”

Es ist also bisher noch community driven, aber sowohl Fairphone als auch Jolla prüfen eine kommerzielle Zusammenarbeit. Vielversprechend.

Unbedingt berichten, wie es läuft. Da von Jolla in der nahen Zukunft nicht mit einem Phone zu rechnen ist, bleibt dies auch auf meiner Watchlist. Zumal ich sowieso große Sympathien für das Projekt Fairphone hege

Noch etwas spärlich was die Funktionen betrifft, aber wir sind im Alpha-Status. Ich hoffe, dass da bald eine passende Beta-Version kommt. Dual-Sim wäre schon prima.

Also ich habe es bekommen. Ich habe die Alpha installiert (geht sehr einfach).

Leider muss ich sagen das es nicht brauchbar ist. Es ist Laggy und das grösste Problem ist das die Programme nach ca. 1 Minute abstürzen. Ich denke das ganze könnte gelöst werden wenn FP und Jolla zusammen arbeiten und die Treiber für das OS bereitstellen, solange es keine Treiber gibt kann SFOS nicht verwendet werden. Und selbst wenn die Community das Problem mit den Laggs und Apps-Abstürzen lösen kann fehlt noch Exchange und Android-VM und ohne diese zwei Features ist es nur das Halbe SFOS.

Ich werde mich mal noch mehr informieren und FP/Jolla anfragen wie es aussieht. Ich hoffe das diese zwei unternehmen zusammen arbeiten und es ermöglichen. SFOS + FP = The Phone!

Sehr gute nachrichten. Alpha2 für Fairphone 2 ist draussen. Ich werde es testen sobalde ich zuhause bin.
