Samsung stellt aber nicht die Binaries oder die Sources gewisser wichtiger Treiber für die Chips (Audio, GPS, etc) zur Verfügung. Auch ist die Dokumentation der Exynos Platform unvollständig. Das hat dazu geführt, dass sich einige sehr bekannte Developer, die bisher ROMs für diverse Exynos SoCs entwickelt und portiert haben, abspringen und in Zukunft auf Sony oder andere Plattformen umsteigen.

Bestes Beispiel: Der bekannte CyanogenMod Entwickler für die Exynos Plattformen: codeworkx , er steigt Ende des Jahres völlig von Samsung Geräten zu Sony um. Es ist im Moment sogar unklar ob überhaupt noch irgendwelche Samsung Devices von CyanogenMod unterstützt werden, denn im Moment hat sich keiner der anderen CyanogenMod Devs dazu bereit erklärt die Samsung-Devices zu managen.

Doch die XDA Elite Developer XpLoDWilD und Entropy512 berichten weniger positiv über das Developer Event von Samsung:

"Yes, Samsung will release Exynos source code. 'Hurraay!!!' ??? No!
What does this mean ? For instance, Galaxy S III camera will stay closed, because it is NOT part of Exynos development boards. Galaxy S II audio is still Yamaha proprietary crap, and we will NOT get source code. RIL interface will also remain closed, so all exynos phones will keep on having broken/semi-functional GSM connection (broken Sim Toolkit, unstable data connection, unstable roaming). TV Out will still remain undocumented, and Android interface won't be opensourced (as it is part of TouchWiz on official ROMs). Same applies for FM Radio."

Sony Geräte haben Cyanogen auch nötig.
