So... I saw this and couldn't resist having a little sneaky play around with it. This is NOT a daily driver. This is NOT stable. It's pre-alpha. If you want something to use as a phone, this isn't it. If you just want to use your phone as a phone, you want this.

With that aside, and with the clear understanding that while this won't brick your phone, it's nothing to do with me if it did for some reason, or likewise if your cat (or other cute pet) suffers a painful death as a result of flashing this. At your own risk, like everything else here on XDA-Developers!

So without further ado, WTF is this? Well, it's a project from Mozilla (the lovely people behind the Firefox browser). I won't go into details, suffice to say I suggest you read a lot over at their wiki - start off at https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G and work your way through the pages.

Anyway, what is this? Well, it's a TAR to flash via ODIN (codeworkx informs me not to flash userdata partition via heimdall, I suggest you heed that warning, and this tar contains the userdata partition). Within it is a kernel (should have CWM etc), a /system, and a /data. These are not for Android, rather are for booting up this Boot2Gecko operating system. It's Mozilla's attempt at a cloud OS for phones.

I've prepared a build environment so I can update it when I feel like it (read, when it needs it). So without further ado, your download link (direct link, should be quite fast):

What works?
According to my group of testers (thanks datagutt, and roniez ):

• Camera
• Audio
• Front camera (cannot capture picture)
• Video
• Wifi (see https://github.com/andreasgal/B2G/blob/master/WIFI.md)

I have no idea if calls work, but I think you'll need to disable your SIM PIN (if you have one) first.

Hört sich interessant an, heute morgen hab ichs auf der Chip Seite entdeckt Hat schon jemand ausprobiert ob es läuft und ob man telefonieren kann? Ich machs mir am Wochenende mal drauf

Habs leider auch noch net geschafft zu flashen hab es aber auch am we geplant. Les doch ma bei xda wegen dem telefonieren müsste aber eigentlich gehen.

Langeweile, Neugierde, Lernfreude, Interesse oder auch mal eine neue Herausforderung ?
Man kommt ja auch wieder zurück, von daher ist es halb so schlimm.

Das ist richtig! Es is halt eben mal was anderes und da mozilla eigentlich ganz gute sachen macht interessiert es mich. Werde es auch nur mal austesten und dann wieder zurück auf checkrom gehen.

Muss den Thread unbedingt wieder mal ausgraben, da es hier interessante Entwicklungen gibt.

Scheinbar machen Gokhanmoral und Pulser_G2 Ernst mit B2G, soweit das geht. Wer es testen will: Das geht jetzt auch als Zweit-ROM dank Siyah Dualboot. Kernel wird ein Siyah ab 3.2.2 benötigt und ein .zip-File mit B2G von Gokhanmoral aus seinem Kernel-Thread bei den XDA-Devs.

Das .zip-File muss dann nur noch als zweites ROM geflashed werden und dann kann man testen, soweit ich das verstanden habe.

Ich habe B2G heute mal nach dieser Anleitung (entstand ebenfalls aus dem xda-Thread) als 2nd-Rom installiert. Also die Dualboot-Geschichte funktioniert, auch wenn mich jetzt B2G nicht überzeugt, aber das ist beim aktuellen Entwicklungsstand nicht überraschend.

Weiss einer ob Ubuntu auch im dual Boot funktioniert?
