Also wenn du Version 7 schon lange drauf hast, die Probleme aber erst seit kurzem, dann liegt das nicht an darky´s Rom, sondern an irgendeiner App oder Einstellung, die du geändert hast! Flashe Version 8, wobei ich bei deinen Problemen auf jeden Fall zu der Wipe-Version raten würde.

Requirements
- Either an 2.1 Eclair Firmware
- or Froyo and a kernel with Recovery 2e [by ChainFire] to flash 'update.zip' files.
- ClockWorkMod Recovery [Click to DOWNLOAD]
- Working 3 Button Combo (VOLUME DOWN / VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER)
Will this ROM delete my previously installed apps?
No, it won't - unless you "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" in ClockworkMod.
> It's always best if you flash with 100% battery.
INSTRUCTIONS
// Texts in italic are detailed/additional instructions.
1. Download the ROM from above, and put it on your INTERNAL SD-Card.
Don't unzip it, as this will break the signature.
2. Download ClockworkMod Recovery from above.
You need ClockworkMod Recovery, as this won't work with the stock recovery.
> If you're already on my ROM v5.x/v6.x, you don't need ClockworkMod, as it's already built-in.
3. Put ClockWorkMod Recovery on your INTERNAL SD-Card.
4. If you're on my v5.x/v6.x ROM, you don't need to disable the lagfix [Voodoo].
> If you are using another Lagfix, disable it NOW.
5. Shutdown your phone, wait for it to power off completely (vibrates on Froyo, check buttons keypad light on Eclair), then boot the phone into Recovery Mode (press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, then press Power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).
6. Select "Apply SDCARD:update.zip" (use volume keys/rocker to move up and down, and HOME button to select).
ClockworkMod Recovery will boot now (you may have to do the "Apply update.zip" twice for ClockworkMod Recovery to show up).
7. JUST DO THIS STEP IF YOU HAVE FORCE CLOSES OR OTHER PROBLEMS!
It's not necessary anymore since v7.0!
> In ClockworkMod, select "Wipe data/factory reset".
> *** This will delete ALL YOUR APPS & SETTINGS ***
8. Now select "Install zip from SDCARD"
> [use volume keys/rocker to move up and down, and the POWER Button to select].
9. Select "Choose zip from SDCARD" and then select the ROM zip file (Called something like "Darkys_vX.x_signed.zip).
> Then choose "Yes."
10. The Flashing process will start (should take 1 minute) and during the flashing you will see some strange big blue characters on the screen - don't worry, that's normal.
After the process finished, you will be dropped back into ClockworkMod Recovery.
From there, choose "Go back", and then reboot your phone.
11. The first boot will take some time (up to 5-10 minutes) as the ROM will de-odex and zipalign.
Voodoo won't get activated by default since v6.0!
That's it! Enjoy my ROM! ;)

This is the best ROM in terms of ease of use and stability. It is not the fastest in terms of the quadrant score but that is misleading for it has yet to crash, GPS working perfectly, very good battery life. (There is no need for me to improve the Quadrant score by installing another kernel; BLN does not provide enough functionality for me to want to install another kernel simply to get this feature as everything works harmoniously.)
Doc's ROM has become too fiddly to install compared to your!
Thank you and keep up the good work! (You've allowed me to wean my addiction to constantly updating my installed ROM with this version.)

More detailed instructions for installing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread Keyboard:
The Gingerbread Keyboard is ready to be installed on your SD-Card.
It is in /sdcard/GingerBread_Keyboard
Just use the app "My Files", navigate to this folder and install it.
After installing the keyboard, you need to press the Home button.
Then open the Settings app.
Scroll down and select "Locale and Text".
Then check the checkbox on Android Keyboard and press OK to confirm.
Then you can edit the settings under the menu below.
Vibration does not work yet, neither does auto-correction (try it).
Then go "back" from the keyboard settings.
Now you need to choose your keyboard as the "active keyboard".
Press "Choose Input Method" and select "Android Keyboard".
Finished! ;)

To get all the icons shown in the screenshots, download/start LauncherPro, press the MENU button (left to the middle HOME button),
press "Preferences" --> scroll down and choose "Restore Backup".
Then answer "Yes" to restart LauncherPro.
Et voilà, all icons are usuable and prepared ;)

hast du viele bilder auf dem handy?
ich habe selber gut 1600 bilder auf dem galaxy. anscheinend indiziert/cached die gallery das ganze initial einmal, das dauert bei mir z.b. immer ne einige stunden nach nem wipe bis die gallerie gut läuft.

Habe Darky´s ROM drauf und bin meeegazufrieden, aber eine Frage habe Ich- auch wenn das Thema schon tausendmal im Forum auftaucht- Ich habe den Ländercode "HKDXEE" drauf- ist das für irgendwas wichtig, Ich weiss das "XEE" für England/Irland steht und wenn Ich *#272*IMEI* eingebe bietet mir das SGS folgende Codes zum installieren an: "XEU", "XEO", "DBT" und "CPW".
Soll/muss Ich da was ändern wenn alles super läuft?
p.s.- bin vom Ösi- Land :o-))

Müsste aber mit darkys gefixt sein, ich hab aber auch XEE. Bin ebenfalls aus österreich. Ist mir aber im prinzip egal, ist denk ich nur für Kies relevant, oder vlt. auch für die Samsung apps. Diese nutze ich aber nicht.

Eben, da alles funzt (auch Samsung Apps und Kies, halt ohne Update...) und sonst auch keine Probs auftreten einfach lassen wie´s ist....never touch a running System.......ausser Darky bringt wieder ein Hammer-rom raus ;o-))

Hatte wahrscheinlich um die 700 (ca 400 Icons)oben, und einen Film.
Die Gallery hat mir dauernd angeziegt das meine Externe Sd karte kaputt ist, das keine Bilder vorhanden sind oder sie hat ein Forced Close gemacht. Hab jetzt nochmal alles Neugeflashed, Nochmal gewiped und die interne Sd karte Formatiert und dann Ext4 raufgehaut.
Die Gallery funktioniert zwar jetzt wieder, aber die Icons musste ich runterhauen weil die Gallery das immer noch nicht gepackt hat :s
(Punkt für iOS, da funtioniert die Gallery noch mit vielen Bildern ohne Probleme.

Ich hab die Galery von Darky, das ist die selbe wie die von SGS Tools. Hab aber trotzdem nochmal über SGS die Galery aufgespielt und bei beiden das gleiche .,.... :( Ab und zu dauert es auch ewig bis irgend etwas eingeblendet wird...
Hat da jemand ne Lösung?

Genau das hab ich auch...... aber wenn ich zB. eine .nomedia datei in einen Ordner reinpacke... brauch er trotzdem ewig und einmal Daten löschen, bis er den Ordner nicht mehr einblendet!
Kann jemand eventuell die Standart Galerie.apk mal hochladen?

Also ich würde auch gerne auf dein ROM gehen aber ich kenne mich mit CustomROM nicht aus und wollte fragen:
braucht man dazu ClockworkMod oder Recovery2e? Ich meine ich verstehe die Anleitung nicht so ganz als vollkommener noob.

Ich hab jetzt die Stock Galerie drauf... keine Ahnung wie es mit der Akku Problematik aussieht, aber auf jeden Fall ist sie sehr schnell!

Klingt gut, da ich am wochenende unterwegs bin, werde ich sonntag abend mich mal ran setzen. 8.0 ist schon genial, mal sehen ob die neue version meine erwartungen übertrifft.

Darkys Forum ist völlig überlastet, keine Chance draufzukommen :D
Hat jemand das neue Rom schon drauf und kann mal ein paar Screenshots posten? Gerade von den angepriesenen Änderungen im Design, bin da etwas skeptisch, für mich war v8 eigentlich perfekt was das Design anging :)
Edit: Okay, nun hats geklappt und da sind auch Screens vorhanden. Hm, mal gucken ob ich mich damit anfreunden kann...

habs mir gerade installiert. Die Bootanimation in 8.0 fand ich schöner und die grünen Icons in den Einstellungen sind gewöhnungsbedürftig aber nicht hässlich. Wenn mir jemand sagt wie Screenshots erstelle kann ich diese gerne posten.

Hi Sesselpupser ...
Du musst zum Screenshot erstellen die zurück Taste fest halten und dann den Home Button drücken, dann erstellt das SGS einen Screenshot auf die SD Karte.

Danke für die Screens.
So richtig warm werde ich mit dem Design nicht, ich werde bei v8.0 bleiben, da habe ich mir eh schon alles perfekt angepasst, praktisch das beste aus vielen Themes rausgenommen und installiert (z.B. den Dialer aus dem GingerMix Theme)

Hi @ all ..
Ich bekomme nach dem flashen auf 8.1 keine Root Rechte mehr bei Titanium Backup. Hab die Wipe Version genommen und auch danach noch mal einen Doppelwipe gemacht aber es funktioniert nicht. Wäre für jeden Tipp dankbar.

ich wollte nur wissen warum wenn ich CWM installiert habe ich noch Recovery2e (was auch immer das kann) installieren muss? Steht zumindest so in darkyy's Anleitung. Kann ich nicht einfach die 8.0 über CWM flashen? Wozu Recovery2e?

Ja nur den CWM kann ich ja einfach via update.zip über das normale Recovery flashen, oder nicht?

So, hab mir auch gerade die aktuelle Version gezogen. Hab No-Wipe gewählt und über darky 8.0 mit aktiviertem Lagfix (ohne zu deaktivieren) drübergebügelt und es funktioniert alles wunderbar! i love this rom! ;)
Hab sogar das gefühl, dass alles noch ein wenig smoother läuft als bei 8.0. Jetzt bin ich nur mal gespannt auf den Sound mit vodoo.

Genau so ist es!
Das mit den Root Problemen kann ich bestätigen!
Ich denke die Woche wird bestimmt direkt ne neue Version rauskommen, da durch die Integration des neuen Kernels bestimmt ein paar Einstellungen noch manuell gesetzt werden müssen! Aber ansonsten good work man!

Hi, habe eine Frage. Im Guide steht dass man die Stock Version braucht von Froyo (JPY?) Ich habe aber die JPO (Swisscom), dh ich muss zuerst mit Odin die andere Version flashen oder geht es auch so? Nicht das mein Handy bricked oder so..

Müsstest auch so auf die JPY kommen, einfach via ODIN! Aber eigentlich reicht die JPO auch, aber halt eine STOCK und nicht Swisscom! Aber ich kennn mich leider nicht mit dem Flashen von gebrandeten FWs aus, also frag lieber noch jemand anderen :)
