[ROM][21.09] MoDaCo custom Hero ROM 2.3

his ROM is based on the 2.73.x release series (together with my own optimisations) for the best possible performance! The ROM is now available in 2 core versions, with and without Chinese input, with an optional 'enhanced' pack that can be applied to either ROM.

Included in both 'core' versions

- Rooted with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK
- A2SD included (fully automatic - thanks cyanogen!) - create a EXT3 partition as your second partition to use. dalvik-cache remains on device. EXT4 is NOT supported.
- Added Jbed Java
- Added Spare Parts (run it and switch the 2 animation types to 'fast' for an even better experience!)
- Added Custom Locale for setting non english Locales
- Added android-wifi-tether 1.52 (props to the developer, this is a great app!)
- Added busybox 1.15.1 - tweaked such that 'get information' in Swapper now works as desired
- Added nano 2.09 - text editor for use in shell mode
- Added parted and sqlite tools
- Added terminfo and settings to boot.img to allow nano etc. use
- Added tun.ko file
- Added files required for Debian linux
- Moved Quickoffice to data partition to allow easy uninstall
- Deleted 'Learn More' application
- Deleted Maps application - install from the Android Market to always stay up to date - it is not deleted from the Chinese version due to market restrictions
- ROM now includes touch focus in Camera app
- ROM now supports shortcuts using BetterCut (and therefore I assume anycut!) in Rosie
- Silenced boot sound (it's still there and can be reactivated with a file edit)
- You can now check your MoDaCo Custom ROM (MCR) version from the about menu
- Fix for HTC Peep on Vodafone now available here!

Included in 'enhanced' add on pack

- Added Business Card Scanner
- Added 'Plurk' client
- Added WAP browser

ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!

A 'wipe' is MANDATORY when installing this ROM if you are coming from pre MCR 1.2 or a stock 1.x ROM, and you MUST do this BEFORE applying the update zip (as the update zip puts files on the data partition)! I also recommend you install the latest radio from my 'update zips' topic if you have not done so.

Please note that first boot may take a little while, especially if you have a lot of apps on your A2SD partition. Be patient! If you want a real clean start or you have issues with your existing A2SD installed apps when you boot, you need to wipe your EXT3 partition on SD too by executing 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app', 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app-private' and 'adb shell reboot' http://www.modaco.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

The ROM is in an update.zip format for installation via the custom recovery image, I also recommend installing the latest radio (63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 at time of writing). As always, do a Nandroid backup before you do anything... just in case! http://www.modaco.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

For the complete newbies, these are the steps you need to take with a 'virgin' Hero:

- Download the patched recovery image linked above and install as detailed in that post
- Download this custom ROM, and copy it to your SD card
- Enter the recovery image (if you're not in it already) by powering on while pressing 'home'
- Select 'nandroid backup' from the menu to do a backup
- If you copied the custom rom as update.zip, select 'apply sdcard:update.zip', else select the option below.
- all done

Das neue People Widget ist nett. Eine Splate reicht mir aber total... :D
Schade ist das der Bug mit der hüpfenden Tastaur noch vorhanden ist.

schreib doch sonst mal paul von modaco oder auch htc ne mail, je nachdem ich denke von modaco könnte es da schneller was geben wenn er es beheben kann... falls nicht muss das wohl htc machen ^^

Aber möglicherweise muss das tatsächlich HCT machen. Sonst hätte paul es bestimmt in der version 2.3 behoben. Fals es ihm mitgeteilt wurde. Ich weiss es nicht.

hab's jetzt auch installiert :) merke zwar noch nicht viel vom geschwindigkeitszuwachs :/

sms gehen aber jetzt wieder ohne stocken :) das ist doch einmal super! hat sich also gelohnt für mich. flashen war extrem einfach, sollte jeder machen :)

Hi Leute ich hab mal ne Frage zu dem People Widget.
Ist das normal das man im nachhinein nichts mehr an den Kontakten ändern kann?
Habe meine Freundin zuerst gespeichert und dann die restlichen Felder voll
gemacht. War aber leider ihre Festnetznummer. Wenn ich das Feld anklicke geht sofort der Anruf los, bei langem halten kann ich nur das Widget im ganzen entfernen.
Musste alles von vorne erstellen damit die eine Nummer passt.
Habt ihr da die gleiche Erfahrung gemacht?

sollte doch eigendlich so sein, dass in dem People Widget die Kontakte angezeigt werden, die im Telefonbuch bei "Favoriten" eingetragen sind.

Mein Vorschlag wäre also:
Telefonbuch auf -> "Favoriten" auswählen (im Standarttelefonbuch die zweite Karte von links) -> lange auf den Kontakt drücken der geändert werden soll -> "Standartaktion ändern" wählen und neue Aktion/Rufnummer auswählen -> Freuen :cool:

Hoffe das geht so, habs nur mit der generic Rom getestet...

Bin nicht drauf gekommen das die Favoriten sich auf das widget beziehen!
